Weston, Fl., March 22, 2023?Speaking at the first fund-raiser for Put On The B.R.A.K.E.S. in Florida, celebrity drag-racing champion Doug Herbert promised a packed house Saturday that his charity will prevent injuries and deaths from car crashes by training and educating teenage drivers as it has done in other states.

\"A study done by Dr. Friday at UNC Charlotte shows that teens that have attended Put On The B.R.A.K.E.S. classes are 64% less likely to be involved in a car crash in the first three years of driving,\" said Herbert addressing the crowd at Alligator Ron\'s Saloon here.

Herbert started Put On The B.R.A.K.E.S. after losing his two sons Jon and James, in a car crash. \"I don\'t want other parents to get that same call that I got,\" says Herbert.

At the event, attendees participated in both silent and colorful live auctions of exclusive accommodations at famous places and events such as the Country Music Association Awards in Nashville, TN. Cole Hauser aka \"Rip\" made a surprise appearance during the auction and promised the winning bidder some horseback riding on the trip to Montana that was part of the auction!

Among those in the crowd was Duane Shaw, a young businessman who sustained 12 broken ribs and a severely dislocated shoulder when a hit-and-run driver drove him off the road less than two months ago. Still in pain from the accident in January, Shaw praised Herbert for training and educating teens to drive responsibly.

\"Put On The B.R.A.K.E.S. is a teen Pro-Active Driving School curriculum is specific, concise, and focused on five key areas,\" says Herbert.

Within a 3-hour session, teens spend more than two hours under the guidance of a professional driving instructor, in the car and behind-the-wheel. They are taught in a 2-to-1 teen-to-instructor ratio, receiving personalized professional training. Instruction reinforces such basics as seatbelt use, seating and mirror position and proper steering wheel hand position. The teens learn life saving techniques to avoid distracted driving, panic braking, crash avoidance, car control and recovery, and drop wheel recovery.
