Raipur: ?I extend my tribute to those journalists who all have lost their lives on duty during pandemic. My gratitude and regards to every journalist who has been a part of this tough reporting during these 18 months of pandemic. All this proves that there are thousands of journalists who understands their roles and responsibilities of their profession and add value to this fourth pillar of democracy,? said Dr. Sandeep Marwah Chancellor of AAFT University of Media And Arts initiating the webinar designed to discuss roles and responsibilities of Journalists.

?You can never grow in a profession unless and until you have love and passion for your work. There is no alternate to creating experience for your own self which is only possible by working within the industry. Deep interest for journalism can take you to heights,? said Prof. K.G.Suresh Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi University giving examples from his own life.

?You need not to be too sweet to the establishment. Only journalist has the power to criticize openly. Reminding and creating alerts through press changed the current position of facilities during pandemic attack in India. The credit goes to the responsible journalists who could see the disaster in advance,? said Ajay Shukla Group Editor ITV Network.

?Being a journalist means, a duty round the year. You cannot ignore an issue if you are not on duty. A sensible journalist understands that his duty towards public and nation. If you are in profession than you must be alert and vigilant all the time,? said Onkareshwar Pandey Editor in Chief Indian Observer Post.

?Criticizing all the time, molding news to own benefit, hurting community, provoking words, manipulating situations, not covering the other side of the news and abusing government on all occasion is not the journalism. If your reporting is not balanced it can create many errors in the day-to-day life,? said Manogya Loiwal Editor ABP News.

?Government and private Organizations should come forward to keep the confidence of the journalists intact by providing them enough to live happily. When other three pillars the Executives, Legislatives, Judiciary are secured from all angles why can?t we think about journalists also,? added Harish Chandra Burnwal.

Soumyajit Mahapatra Chair Kolkata Chapter Public Relation Society of India expressed the role of PR and Vipin Gaur Secretary News Papers Association of India spoke about the role of journalistic organizations in India. The discussion was followed by question answers.
