A Hindu worship place is reportedly being planned in Bowling Green (Kentucky).

According to reports, City-County Board of Adjustments of Warren County in Kentucky has approved Conditional Use Permit for a religious institution requested by International Swaminarayan Satsang Organization.

This temple complex reportedly plans to have a built area of 32,000 square feet on a 2.74 acre plot and is proposed to be ready in about a year. Besides a sanctuary, it plans to include recreation and dining halls also.

Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, commended efforts of temple leaders and area community towards realizing this temple complex.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this temple complex would help in this direction. Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of Self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.

About 400 Hindus reportedly reside in the area, many of whom had been travelling to Nashville and Louisville for worship needs. The proposed temple site was previously a kitchen and home decor supplies store and is zoned as light industrial and multi-family residential. Donations are being sought by the group and temple leaders include Ganshyam Patel and Narenda Patel, reports add.
