Press Release Writing Guideline

What is a press release?
A press release is generally a type of announcement that is made to create a broader awareness about any product launch, new appointment, awards and recognition, any achievement and others.

Writing Press Releases
A typical press release can be divided into 5 parts:
1. Headline
2. Sub-headline
3. Body
4. About the organization
5. Contact Details

1. Headline
This must be attention drawing that can encourage readers to read rest of the press release. It must be between 12 and 20 words.
2. Sub-headline
This portion briefly details out the headline and gives an idea what the press release is about and what readers will get in the body of the press release. Must be in 2 sentences, not more than that.
3. Body
Most important part of the press release. The main content is found here only. Should be around 400 words or more and must start with the place and the date of the releasing organization.
Important Instructions:
a) No copy/paste and no copy of idea from other press releases.
b) Should not use 1st person & 2nd person in sentences. (No use of I/you/we)
c) 1st person & 2nd person can be used only in quotes “ “.
d) Keywords should not be used more than 3 times in total. (even if there are 1,2 or 3 keywords)
e) Should not be in a promotional tone as if you are writing a product profile or a company profile.

4. About the organization
The organization that is releasing the press release. A brief paragraph about it. 80-100 words.
