11th September, 2026, Delhi: Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, celebrated the recognition of Mr. Biranjeet Singh, Music Teacher, who was conferred with the Savitribai Phule Samman 2026 on September 10 by Hon’ble Smt. Savitri Thakur Ji, Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The honour recognised his significant contribution to music education and his efforts towards nurturing students’ creativity and musical talent.

Over the past decade, Mr. Singh has made music an engaging and experiential part of learning at the school. Known for his spirit of innovation, he introduced students to different ways of understanding and enjoying music, including learning songs through body rhythm. He encouraged them to listen closely to the sounds around them and experience music through the natural rhythms and sounds of their surroundings.

His innovative approach to education beautifully complemented the philosophy of fun-based learning at Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh. Initiatives such as folk-song singing provide opportunities for students to learn more about India’s culture and enhance their knowledge of and interest in different forms of music, including Indian classical music. Many of his students have earned national and international recognition for their musical achievements.
