NIXI Signs Partnership Agreement with APNIC as Asia Pacific Internet Community Gathers in India After 14 Years

Mumbai, September 8, 2026: The 62nd APNIC Conference (APNIC 62), the flagship conference of the Asia Pacific Internet community, is hosted by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and co-hosted by the Internet Service Providers Association of India (ISPAI) in Mumbai from September 8 to 10, 2026. The event marks the return of the APNIC conference to India after 14 years.

One of the key developments during APNIC 62 is the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NIXI and APNIC. The agreement will strengthen cooperation between the two organisations in Internet development, technical capacity building and community outreach.

Under the partnership, NIXI and APNIC will work together on IPv6 and RPKI adoption, Train-the-Trainer programmes, RPKI training and technical lab infrastructure. The organisations will also support the deployment of an RPKI Repository Mirror. This will help improve access to routing security information and support more efficient network operations.

The partnership will also help expand technical knowledge within India's Internet community. By supporting training and hands-on learning, the initiative aims to create more local expertise and strengthen the ability of network operators and technical professionals to address evolving Internet challenges.

APNIC 62 brings together policymakers, government representatives, Internet infrastructure experts, network operators, technology leaders and other stakeholders from across the Asia Pacific region. The three-day conference provides a platform to discuss the key issues shaping the Internet, including connectivity, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, IPv6, routing security, Internet governance and emerging technologies.

The conference also reflects India's growing importance in the regional Internet community. With a large and rapidly expanding digital ecosystem, India has an important role to play in discussions around the future of Internet infrastructure, access and security.

The event features the participation of senior government and Internet leaders, including; Shri Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & IT; Dr. Devesh Tyagi, CEO, NIXI; and APNIC EC Chair, Kenny Huang.
