The Department of Paediatrics at NIIMS Hospital recently conducted an Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Workshop under the aegis of the National Neonatology Forum (NNF) and the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP).

The one-day workshop brought together 24 resident doctors, nursing officers and interns, focusing on strengthening their practical skills and preparedness to manage neonatal emergencies at birth.

The programme included simulation-based training, skill stations, interactive sessions, hands-on demonstrations and structured assessments, enabling participants to develop practical competencies in evidence-based neonatal resuscitation.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Ruchira Maheshwari Gupta, Honorary Secretary General, CIAP, in the presence of senior NIIMS leadership and medical faculty. Experts from leading institutions across Greater Noida and Noida also conducted specialised training sessions.

Dr. Avinash Kumar Jha, Assistant Professor, Department of Paediatrics, NIIMS, highlighted the importance of timely neonatal resuscitation training in enabling healthcare professionals to respond effectively during the critical moments immediately after birth.

Why this story matters
With neonatal emergencies requiring rapid and coordinated intervention, regular skill-based training of doctors and nursing professionals is an important part of strengthening newborn care and improving clinical preparedness.

The initiative also reflects NIIMS Hospital’s focus on medical education, clinical capacity building and improving standards of neonatal care.
