Third-generation Audi Q7 debuts with major updates inside and out

Audi has revealed the third-generation Q7. Rather than a complete reinvention, the new model builds on the strengths that have defined the Q7 since its debut in 2005, with a stronger focus on technology, space, and everyday usability. The SUV will go on sale in Germany from June 2026, with deliveries beginning in September. Prices start at 87,900 euros for the 180 kW version and 90,500 euros for the 220 kW model.
Safety and driver assistance have received significant upgrades. The Q7 comes equipped with adaptive driving assistant plus, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a 360-degree camera, park assist, trailer manoeuvring assist, trailer stability control, and integrated trailer brake control. A new emergency assist function can guide the vehicle to the shoulder if the driver becomes unresponsive in certain situations. Audi has also added an exit warning system that alerts occupants to approaching vehicles or cyclists before a door is opened.
Lighting technology is another major highlight. The optional digital Matrix LED headlights use micro-LED modules and support features such as lane guidance, orientation lighting, and pedestrian marking. At the rear, digital OLED taillights offer customizable lighting signatures, warning graphics, and communication lighting during automated parking manoeuvres. The turn indicators can also project onto the road surface at night to improve visibility for other road users.
Inside, the Q7 adopts a cleaner cabin design with a stronger visual connection between the dashboard and door panels. Buyers can choose from five-seat, six-seat, or seven-seat layouts, with all seats electrically adjustable. The second row offers flexible configurations, while the seven-seat version can accommodate three child seats across the second row. A redesigned panoramic sunroof can switch between transparent and opaque modes across nine separate sections and features integrated lighting within the glass.
Practicality remains a key focus. The centre console includes dual Qi2.2 wireless charging pads, larger cup holders, and USB-C fast charging ports for the second and third rows. The Q7 also features an electrically operated tailgate with gesture control. Luggage capacity stands at up to 806 litres in the five-seat version and up to 722 litres behind the second row in the seven-seat model.
On the outside, the Q7 retains its muscular proportions while adopting a more upright and sharper appearance. The front end features a larger Singleframe grille, revised air intakes, and more pronounced wheel arches. At the rear, a full-width light bar and digital OLED lighting give the SUV a more distinctive look. Audi is also offering optional automatic doors.
Power comes from a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine available in 180 kW and 220 kW outputs. Both versions feature MHEV Plus technology and an electric compressor for improved responsiveness. The system can also provide up to 18 kW of additional power when required and supports short periods of low-speed electric driving. Suspension choices include standard steel springs, adaptive air suspension, and adaptive air suspension sport. Like its predecessors, the new Q7 will be produced at Audi's Bratislava plant.
