The Jetour T2 has started to draw attention beyond the ASEAN region and there is already some indication that the SUV could eventually be considered for India. The model was recently patented here. That usually means that the brand is at least testing the waters. Even if nothing is confirmed yet. If the SUV does arrive then safety will be one of the first things people look at. On that front the T2 comes with a strong early signal. It has secured a 5-Star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP with an overall score of 86.50 points under the current 2021–2025 evaluation protocol.

The frontal offset crash test is usually where the structure of the vehicle shows its real character. In the T2’s case the passenger compartment remained stable during the impact. That is always a reassuring sign. Data from the crash dummies indicated adequate protection for the driver’s chest which carries weight in the scoring. One area did fall slightly short though. The driver’s left lower leg showed marginal protection in the test. The frontal impact section ended with a score of 13.74 out of a possible 16.00. Not perfect but clearly strong.

Side impact protection looked even more convincing. The Jetour T2 scored a full 8.00 points in the side collision test, suggesting the structure and restraint systems managed lateral forces well. HTP (Head Protection Technology) was also confirmed through additional deployment checks which added another full 8.00 points. When these results are put together the adult occupant protection score reached 29.74 points. It reads like a well balanced outcome rather than one carried by a single strong area.

Child occupant protection is where the model quietly builds a big portion of its score. The T2 recorded 40.63 points in this category which combines crash performance with how easily different child seats can actually be installed in the car. Several restraint systems were tested across different seating positions. Most of them installed without trouble and passed the checks. Though a few combinations failed or were marked exempt depending on the seat orientation. Slightly awkward to explain maybe, but it basically means the vehicle works well with most child seat setups families would realistically use.

The safety assist technologies also contributed to the final safety rating . The Jetour T2 collected 18.00 points here. Systems such as Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control and seatbelt reminders for front and rear occupants come as standard. Autonomous Emergency Braking was assessed in both city and inter-urban scenarios, where the vehicle must react to a car ahead at different speeds. The system performed according to the protocol requirements during testing, though some AEB functions are optional depending on the variant.

There are a few other features that round out the package. Blind Spot Detection is fitted as standard on both sides of the vehicle, along with rear seat occupant detection and pedestrian protection systems. Some advanced driver aids like lane departure warning, forward collision warning and lane keep assist are offered as optional equipment. The mix is interesting. Some technologies are standard and some are not which is a little uneven but still fairly comprehensive overall.

Looking at the results closely, the T2 doesn’t rely on just one headline score. It performs steadily across crash protection, child safety and driver assistance systems.
