The most viable data center processors promise to deliver a wide range of features for sustaining performance and power, ensuring that the CPU maximizes performance to generate the desired output.
Compared to previous generations, 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processors can deliver improved performance by 2.9x1 average per watt while using built-in accelerators and optimizing power mode with around 70 watts of power savings per CPU.
To sustain the performance and minimize power consumption Intel Xeon processor features the latest air and cooling solutions that minimize the data center energy consumption.
4th Gen Xeon processor helps optimize performance, energy efficiency, edge workloads, and low latency. These processors can deliver twice the virtualized radio access network (vRAN) compared to previous generations without consuming more power. It also helps with scaling the performance per watt that identifies the requirements for performance and efficiency, and fulfills them.
Intel has recently unveiled its 4th Gen Intel Scalable Processors (Sapphire Rapids), the Intel Xeon CPU Max Series (Sapphire Rapids HBM), and the Intel Data Center GPU Max Series (Ponte Vecchio) at a launch event and described the new processors as their most significant launch of all times. Intel has claimed that these processors deliver enhanced security, efficiency, security, data center performance, upgraded AI capabilities, network and edge, and the cloud.
For its 4th Gen Xeon Scalable Processors, Intel works alongside its partners and customers to deliver differentiated features that help resolve the most recurring computing challenges. With these latest processors, Intel aims to deliver purpose-driven, highly-optimized software that helps with performance optimization and workload-first acceleration.
Sandra Rivera, Intel executive vice president and general manager of the Data Center and AI Group, elaborated, ?The launch of 4th Gen Xeon Scalable processors and the Max Series product family is a pivotal moment in fueling Intel?s turnaround, reigniting our path to leadership in the data center and growing our footprint in new arenas,? further added, ?Intel?s 4th Gen Xeon and the Max Series product family deliver what customers truly want ? leadership performance and reliability within a secure environment for their real-world requirements ? driving faster time to value and powering their pace of innovation.?
Artificial Intelligence
The 4th Gen Xeon processors have built-in Intel? Advanced Matrix Extension (Intel? AMX) accelerators and 10x5,6 higher PyTorch real-time inference and training performance. The Xeon CPU Max Series with its AI software suite enables the developers to enhance productivity and processing time for AI development with the AI tool of choice. The portable AI suite helps scale out from the cloud to the edge. Further, the processor?s AI has been validated with 400 machine learning and deep learning AI models through the most common use cases in every business segment.
High-Performance Computing
The 4th Gen Xeon and the Intel Max Series product family have balanced architecture integrated with a GPU and CPU with oneAPI?s open software ecosystem for high-density computing workloads in HPC and AI. With over 100 billion transistors packed in a 47-tile package, these processors have set new standards that can cater to challenging workloads such as physics, financial services, and life sciences.
Xeon Processors and Confidentiality & Security
Intel has gone above and beyond with their Xeon 4th gen processors not only in terms of performance but also as the leading company that offers an extended computing portfolio for data center silicon providers in the industry with advanced features such as Intel Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX), Intel?s new virtual-machine (VM) isolation technology, Intel Trust Domain Extensions (Intel TDX). These features help protect the system from the smallest attacks and provide the ideal solution to safeguard the data in a confidential environment, such as Microsoft Azure, Alibaba Cloud, Google Cloud, and IBM Cloud.
Intel 4th Gen Xeon Scalable Processors Release Date
Intel has officially launched their Xeon 4th gen processors, followed by the Intel Xeon CPU Max Series and the Intel Data Center GPU Max Series for high-performance computing (HPC) and AI on 10th January 2023 in a launch event.
