Terna, the company that operates Italy?s national transmission grid, has been confirmed among the leading companies worldwide for sustainability performance. In addition to its inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and in the more restrictive Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index, it has also been recently included in the FTSE4Good index, which is used by the FTSE Russell rating agency to select the best global companies based on sustainability criteria.

Dow Jones Sustainability Index recognises Terna?s commitment to sustainability
Fourteen consecutive years in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and in the more restrictive Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index by S&P Global, the two international indices that select companies of excellence based on their ESG best practice. This is the result achieved by Terna, the Italian national transmission grid operator, which confirmed its leading position in global sustainability. The company led by CEO and General Manager Stefano Donnarumma obtained excellent results in S&P Global?s annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment, which analyses the sustainability performances of international companies with the largest market capitalisation. The assessment is based on stringent criteria regarding economic, environmental and social performance, in addition to a review of any significant disputes. The areas analysed include the following: environmental impact, community relations, management of human resources, workplace safety, stakeholder engagement, corporate governance, risk management, respect for human rights and supply chain controls. In the S&P Global?s Corporate Sustainability Assessment on 18 November 2022, Terna received a total score of 91 (out of 100) ? a 2-point increase compared to last year ? thus joining the ranks of the best companies.

Terna?s role as a leader of the energy transition in Italy: an increasingly sustainable grid
For the eighteenth year in a row, Terna has also been included in the FTSE4Good index, FTSE Russell rating agency?s international index that evaluates the sustainability performance of companies all over the world. The survey is based on the evaluation of companies? environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance, and takes into account over 300 indicators including climate change, corporate governance and respect for human rights. The FTSE4Good index also measures how much companies are affected by sustainability issues, under criteria including geographical location, business activity and litigation. Terna?s leadership in the ESG area is further confirmed by the company?s presence on leading ESG indices and the most important international rankings, among which are Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, ECPI, Euronext Vigeo Eiris, GLIO/GRESB ESG Index, MIB 40 ESG, MSCI, S&P Global 1200 ESG, and Stoxx Global ESG Leaders. Furthermore, its leadership is also recognised by CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), the global non-profit organisation that specialises in environmental reporting and the assessment of climate performance and the associated strategies adopted by businesses. Terna?s most recent international recognition of sustainability performance confirms the company?s role as a leader of the energy transition towards an increasingly sustainable grid. Sustainability is in fact a strategic driver of the Group?s operations: 99% of the approximately 10 billion euros in overall investments planned in the updated version of the 2021-2025 Industrial Plan are by their nature sustainable, based on the criteria of the European Taxonomy.
