September 2022 ? The magnificent Fairmont Jaipur hosted the 2nd edition of Jaipur Saree Speak- Weave Walk, this past weekend on September 10, 2022. An initiative of the Raghukul Trust, supported greatly by the Department of Tourism. Fairmont Jaipur was home to a wonderful exhibition and sale showcasing the exquisite products of artisans of the region.
The goal of the event was to shine light on the turmoil caused in the creative and handloom industry by the pandemic, and how these sectors need assistance to bounce back. Timeless traditional drapes, weaves, and hand-crafted sarees from all over Rajasthan were showcased this weekend, highlighting the timelessness of the iconic Indian Saree and the hand-crafted textile traditions of Rajasthan, which are gradually losing their strong footing in the market.
Ms. Jui Sharma, Owner - Fairmont Jaipur, presented the vote of thanks to the guests and organisers of the event. She said, ?We, at Fairmont Jaipur, are deeply grateful for the land that we lay on and the beautiful art, culture and traditions that surround us. It is integral to our brand ethos to contribute in any way we can to be vocal for local and support such impact, much needed initiatives. Events like this also enable us to support and further spread the Make in India movement that helps us put our mark on the world.?
Mr. Rajiv Kapoor, General Manager, Fairmont Jaipur, said, ?It gives us immense pleasure to be the venue host for such an impactful initiative. The cultures and traditions of the country are our pride and joy and to preserve them is our duty. The time to go organic and go handloom is NOW and we hope you will all join hands together with us to preserve our traditions and the future of our talented craftsmen. We must keep the candle of Make in India burning, and it is through such great endeavours that we can truly achieve that goal.?
Curated by Sadhana Garg, Founding Chairperson of Raghukul Trust, the event was one that is much needed for the preservation of all that is paramount to our nation. The event was graced by the presence of women value creators such as doctors, entrepreneurs, educationists, digital strategists, hoteliers, and performing artists, etc.
It was an exhilarating evening of pure appreciation and gratitude for the art, culture and traditions of our nation and its different regions. The Make in India movement was an integral part of the initiative and there was a shared wave of responsibility and initiative among the attendees to uplift the artisans and weavers. Fairmont Jaipur?s opulent yet traditional elements added the perfect finishing touch to a perfect event.
