Australia Minister Says Indian Students Could Return By The End Of 2021.

Indian students could return to Australia via a ?route? in the first semester of 2022. The announcement came after the Therapeutic Goods Administration approved the Serum Institute of India?s Sinovac and Covidshield Astra Zeneca vaccines. According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the TGA judgment will allow authorities to assess whether international tourists were adequately vaccinated. The Australian prime minister announced Friday that the country?s borders would reopen next month, 18 months after closing. Scott Morrison said immunized Australians could return home and travel internationally ?within weeks? if they meet 80% of the vaccine standards. The coronavirus outbreak forced Australia to implement some of the world?s strictest border controls on March 20. Thousands of international flights have been halted for 560 days, and international travel has plummeted. Families have been split up across continents, and foreign residents have been detained in the country, unable to contact friends or family. The border will reopen when Australian states reach their 80% immunization objectives, and local politicians agree. New South Wales, Australia?s most populous state, currently has 64% of adults vaccinated, with 70% and 80% targets set for this month.
