New Delhi, 9th Dec, 2020 ? Kunal Sood is a globally renowned social entrepreneur, impact strategist and angel investor. He is the founder of global organizations such as #WeThePlanet, X Fellows and NOVUS. Recently, Forbes named Sood as one of the worlds ?Icons of Impact? and recognized him as a ?Global Movement Builder given his social impact work with the United Nations, NASA and SAP NextGen.?
The TDIA and GEC Award juries unanimously chose Sood as the recipient of these international prestigious awards given his deep commitment towards supporting purpose-driven leaders from around the world to positively impact a billion lives in transforming our world for a better future.
Every year, TDIA celebrates exponential entrepreneurs and leaders for their disruptive innovation across a full spectrum of sectors including technology, biomed, politics, education, healthcare, spirituality, religion, economics, sports, fashion and philanthropy who challenge the status quo. The Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards recognized Sood?s work as being a force for positive disruption working in the field of social innovation and purpose-driven impact, honoring him with their prestigious Metcalfe Prize for the 10th Anniversary at the annual Disruptor Awards Ceremony hosted during the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.
Kunal, is also a recipient of numerous awards and fellowships such as a Columbia University Innovation Fellow, Stanford CCARE Fellow, and Singularity University GSP Fellow. He has received the Media for Social Impact Award at the United Nations, World Innovation Award, TiECon Award, Non-Violence Award and RoundGlass Samsara Lifetime Achievement Award at the Legislative Parliament of India for his exponential leadership. Sood expressed his gratitude by stating ?Only by serving something that is larger than ourselves can humanity build a better world and future,? Sood explains. ?We often have a ?go-getters? attitude which is important for us to achieve our life?s goals, but in order to create a life of deep meaning and purpose we must cultivate a ?go-givers? mindset. The world needs more courageous, compassionate and authentic leaders, who act with integrity and have each other?s backs without fear or favor, uniting together in action to make the impossible possible.?
During the global pandemic, Sood created and executed a number of #WeThePlanet virtual summits livestreaming to a worldwide audience, with iconic leaders and artists on days including the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, Mother?s Day, Father?s Day, 51st Anniversary of Humans Landing on the Moon and Non-violence day on Gandhi Jayanti. Also, his latest initiative We The Future (WTF) is a intergenerational movement that is set to launch on the 14th of December. WTF is about empowering the next generation to become future proof purpose-driven leaders through radical collaboration and action to help secure life on earth while building a more sustainable world.
As a TED Resident, Global Ambassador for NonViolence.com, Producer and Global Ambassador at Hands Around The World a music project with Grammy Award-winning artist and producer AR Rahman and Ken Kragen to fight the negative effects of Climate Change, Sood is on a mission to create a Social Impact Revolution, where impacting a billion lives is more powerful than making a billion dollars.

On 21 st of September 2019, Kunal Sood launched We The Planet at the United Nations Headquarters during UNGA Week. Kunal Sood and Laura Muranaka are the Co-Founders of We The Planet and the #WeThePlanet global campaign. They created #WeThePlanet to unite the youth and the elders, left and right, women and men, abled and disabled as global citizens to reimagine our approach to planet, people, peace, prosperity, and partnership, uniting in action to make the impossible possible in order to protect all life on land and under the sea, and to transform our world for a better future. The #WeThePlanet global campaign is where, ?We as humans must go beyond ?We The People, and focus on serving something that is larger than ourselves; as a collective we must be focused on We The Planet.?
