The championship will then move to Bahrain for a doubleheader to be held on November 29th and December 6th.

Ending 2020 on a grand note
All the races up till now have been held as closed events. However, there is good news for fans who have been waiting to watch the races live. The organisers of the 2020 Russian GP plan to open up the race to spectators. Organisers of the championship have said that some circuits will open their gates for fans, depending on the pandemic situation in the country.

Abu Dhabi?s ?Safe Zone?
The Abu Dhabi government has created a ?Safe Zone? concept to prepare for the return of events and tourism to the emirate. The new initiative, being spearheaded by The Department of Culture and Tourism?Abu Dhabi, recently delivered a successful fighting championship tournament. The event saw the creation of a world-class ?safe zone? for about a 2,500-strong crowd over five weeks on Yas Island and hosted one of the most-watched fight nights of all time. The fighting championship was held on an 11-km stretch of the island, with the ?safe zone? locked off and secluded from the rest of the emirate. It housed UFC personnel from over 35 nations, the event staff, and Yas Island employees for the five-week period.
In accordance with the principles dictated by the DCT Abu Dhabi?s ?Go Safe? certification programme, the health and safety procedures undertaken by event staff were extensive. They included COVID-19 testing every 72 hours and 14-day isolation periods for all staff members. These measures helped achieve a COVID-free sanctuary. It also had the added benefits of world-class hospitality at luxury hotels and entertainment facilities, all within the ?protected bubble?.

Entertainment and more
The ?safe zone? included Yas Marina Circuit, home to the famed Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Yas Beach, Yas Links Golf Course, and the Flash Forum, a multi-purpose indoor venue for the fights. DCT Abu Dhabi now plans to implement this concept for upcoming events in the coming months, starting with the F1 races at the scheduled annual Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2020.
The Du Arena, the open-air venue famous for staging music concerts, and the Etihad Arena, all set to be the region?s largest multi-purpose indoor arena, are also included in the ?safe zone?. The Zayed Sports City in central Abu Dhabi, also houses a tennis arena, a football stadium, and many hotels, along with a cricket stadium in the vicinity. DCT Abu Dhabi has stated that these venues can be used in the future to create similar ?safe zones?, enabling the destination to build on the event-hosting roadmap it has created for itself.

With less than 100 days remaining for the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, it remains to be seen what other novel concepts and measures will become a part of the thrilling event.
