Founder of the Loomba Foundation, Lord Raj Loomba CBE Donates 1 lakh (1,00,000) Surgical Face Masks to Niti Aayog

New Delhi, April 27, 2020: To tackle the growing health pandemic of COVID 19 and assist the government combat the challenge of limited face masks, UK Member of the House of Lords, Lord Raj Loomba donated 1,00,000 (1 lakh) surgical face masks to Niti Aayog, through the Loomba Foundation.

The masks were effectively delivered with close coordination with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to its nodal company - HLL Lifecare Ltd, which is the main agency for distribution of the protective equipment and masks to COVID19 affected regions and populations.

Shri Amitabh Kant, CEO of NITI Aayog, addressing the urgent need for the masks, took the opportunity to thank Lord Loomba and the Loomba Foundation, saying, "philanthropic organisations such as yours can play a strong role in complementing the government in these critical times by supporting us in several ways. I am delighted with the initiative and commitment shown by you and the Foundation by donating 1,00,000 surgical masks for distribution in much needed areas in India."

Lord Loomba CBE, a tireless advocate for poor and needy widows across the world, explained, ?for many years, we have been committed to the cause of widows empowerment in India, as they are one of the most vulnerable sections of our society." Underlining why everyone should play their part, he emphasised, "...as the world unites in these difficult times, we wanted to play a small role to help those at the front lines." Continuing, Lord Loomba, stated, "our doctors, nurses, healthcare and security professionals and Government representatives need our support and basic amenities such as face masks." " This was a small gesture of the Foundation to help equip them in their fight against COVID- 19," he said, which will go towards protecting many citizens as they battle to look after the country.
