Court authorizes class action for defective Norton products

By judgment dated April 16, 2019, Judge Fran?ois P. Duprat of the Superior Court of Quebec granted the Re-amended motion for authorization to file a class action that we are handling on behalf of all Quebec consumers who purchased and/or licensed certain Norton products. The English version of the Notice to class members, which was authorized by the Court, can be viewed here.

The Re-amended motion for authorization alleges that the Norton products were defective and had design defects which rendered them unfit for the use for which they were intended and that Symantec made false and misleading representations with respect to these products. As a result, the class action seeks financial compensation for all Quebec consumers who purchased and/or licensed certain Norton products at any time between July 24, 2010 and June 27, 2016.

You are a member of the class action if you meet the following definition:

?All natural persons resident in Quebec at the time they purchased and/or licensed, for purposes other than their business, any of the following products: Norton? Antivirus, Norton? Internet Security, Norton? Security, Norton? Security with Backup, Norton 360?, or Norton? One (collectively, the ?Norton Products?) at any time between July 24, 2010 and June 27, 2016?

Further to the Judgment, Kugler Kandestin will be filing shortly with the Court a class action against the Defendant, Symantec Corporation.

Please note that if you meet the definition of a class member, you are automatically part of the class action without having to take any steps to register.
