Fremont, CA: TrainHR, a leading provider of professional trainings for all the areas of human resources, is organizing an hour-long webinar on the topic, “Drafting Employee Handbooks and Company Policies: How to Make Them Solid but not Make Them Contracts”, on July 3. The expert at this course is Susan Fahey Desmond, who is a Principal in the New Orleans, Louisiana, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Please visit TrainHR for more on this valuable learning session.

Human resource managers and company owners are caught in a bind when it comes to drafting employee handbooks and company policies. This is because, while neatly structured and well-written employee handbooks and company policies state and put in place employee policies that demonstrate fairness to the employees; poorly written ones can become a sore point. They can lead to lack of clarity at work, confusion, and, worst of all, litigation. A thoroughly written employee handbook and company policy book should be free of ambiguity and confusion.
How does an organization create employee handbooks and policies that serve their purpose of directing employees towards greater clarity at work, and hence, higher productivity, and freedom from cumbersome legal proceedings? How does a company make employee handbooks and company policies that comply with employee handbooks laws? This is the learning this webinar is imparting.
Getting the employee handbook and company policy right
A Principal in the New Orleans, Louisiana, office of Jackson Lewis P.C; Susan Fahey Desmond will show the correct ways of writing employee handbooks and company policies that serve their purpose of enabling employers to provide valuable information to the employees that they must follow for their and the organization’s good. The devil lies in the detail, because while a rightly drafted set of employee handbooks and company policies handbook can work wonders; they can be detrimental if they are not in right order.
In its zeal to make these documents strong, organizations can sometimes end up creating employee handbooks and/or company policy that give employees a set of legal contract claims they might not otherwise have. Absence of clarity in a handbook or policy could result in ambiguities that may work against the employer and nullify the disclaimers. The trick thus, is in writing handbooks and policies which balance the delicate, contradictory objectives of helping the company accomplish its purpose of informing employees of your expectations on the one hand, and of helping to prevent contractual obligations, on the other. Susan will show how to do this.
