Viewpoint Acquired by Trimble for 1.2 Billion Dollars

Portland, Oregon - May 02, 2018 ? Trimble acquires Viewpoint in the latest industry tech shake-up for 1.2 billion dollars. The all-cash deal will be booked in the 3rd quarter of 2018 and shall come under the heels of Trimble?s $500 million acquisition of e-Builder during the month of February.
Viewpoint, one of the prominent integrated software solutions provider in the global market for the construction industry, was awarded the year?s Enterprise Technology Company of the Year on May 10, 2018, at the 34th Oregon Technology Awards dinner. Factor for selection of the winner was from a broad strip of foremost technology companies who showcase principal impact on the region?s economic growth.
?This acquisition really complements what we?re doing with e-Builder,? says Mark Sawyer, director of construction industry strategy for Trimble. ?So e-Builder is on the owner side of project management, while Viewpoint is focused on the general contractor, MEP and civil contractor side. It?s quite complementary, and gives us a level of detail in the resource-management side of things that we have been pursuing.?
The major focus of Viewpoint during the last couple of years was what it calls, the Office, Team and Field approach, bringing project data from the job site to the cloud and later to back-office software overseeing the job. On the other hand, Trimble also pursued cloud-based collaboration solutions with its focus on field data and the design model. The CEO of Viewpoint, Manolis Kotzabasakis found a great potential in this synergy as it enhances the company?s current goals. At present Viewpoint comes with 8,000+ customers and manages around 400 billion dollar construction project value around the globe. The CEO believes that it will act as a unit within Trimble and have no immediate plans to make any changes on how to manage their customers. With the merge of Trimble and Viewpoint, customers such as Advenser and many others are expected to get benefits in terms of their service.
