Miss World Japan 2016 Priyanka Yoshikawa Promotes eco-tourism between India and Japan

Miss World Japan 2016, Priyanka Yoshikawa, Brand Ambassador for Balipara Foundation?s Elephant Country is in conversation with Shri. Kausar Hilaly, MD, Assam Tourism Development Corporation to work out their collaboration for encouraging Community-Based Ecotourism & Cultural Heritage Tourism between India and Japan through Assam in the Eastern Himalayas. Priyanka met with Mr. Hilaly over the weekend in Mumbai with Naturenomics? leaders Smt Sangeeta Menezes and Shri Dalip Pande from the Balipara Foundation to discuss the opportunity.
Shri. Hilaly has invited Priyanka (managed by La Ditta Limited - Japan and Maido Enterprises Private Limited- India) to explore the pristine and natural beauty of the state of Assam, which is dominated by the mighty Brahmaputra, surrounded by lush green forests and is renowned for its rich flora and fauna. Priyanka, who is the youngest Elephant Trainer to participate in the Eastern Himalayan Naturenomics? Forum on 2nd& 3rd November 2017 is looking forward to her ideal getaway to explore the history, culture and ecology of the Eastern Himalayas.

As a Visit Kyoto Ambassador,Priyanka is already proud of Japan?s rich cultural and natural heritage of exquisite temples and shrines, hot springs, prefectures, grand palaces, gardens, cherry blossoms, ancient city of Nara, beautifully- preserved Tsumago, Japan?s first eco-town- Kityakshu, tea and silk. During her visit to Assam, she wants to travel to experience the biodiverse hotspots and world heritage sites, enjoy the Wildlife Safaris, meet the eclectic mix of local communities and tribes of the Eastern Himalayas and to ride an Elephant at Tea plantations, where Elephants roam wild and free and communities work to restore the lost biodiversity.

Japan loves tea and Assam also has a glorious history of Tea since after the British Era in the 1830s. Tea ceremony is an intricate part of Japan?s culture and tradition and the Assam Tea festival an opportunity to visit the magnificent tea gardens and indulge in exciting river cruises. Through Priyanka?s support as a representative of both the countries - People, cultural and an exchange of experiences will bean important step towards building Japan ? India Friendship.

Much of Assam and Japan?s eco-tourism initiatives are about protecting the natural world and rejuvenating rural communities?the two go hand in hand on many of the tours and nature trails?which also helps support the larger environmental issues.The Eastern Himalayan Botanic Ark is an example of energizing livelihoods through botany, preserving the nature capital of the Eastern Himalayas and of the perseverance of Communities that have nurtured and grown the Ark. Priyanka will be visiting the Eastern Himalayan Botanic Ark to first-hand experience living with nature, see how the Social Enterprise nurtures its guardians and to connect with the communities who live around the Ark.
