San Marcos VFW Post 3795 Memorial Ceremony Thank You and PTSD Awareness Campaign Now Available

Commander Stephen Pantoja of San Marcos VFW Post 3795, an advocacy group for Veterans, has released a statement not only thanking those who were present at Veteran's Day, but also raising awareness of post-traumatic stress syndrome and the need for greater support for veterans. Honoring fallen soldiers, the event hosted by Post 3795 included patriotic music, color guard, and speakers, noted that over 20 Veterans a day took their life due to post traumatic stress.

The ceremony, held on May 29th at 10 am in the San Marcos Cemetery, with a barbecue lunch served afterwards at San Marcos VFW Post 3795, was emotional. In his statement, Commander Stephen Pantoja thanked everyone for attending and making the day possible, before recapping the day's events and bringing the need of greater support for Veterans suffering post-traumatic stress disorder.

Apart from mentioning the Sheriffs and Fire departments outstanding contributions, with representatives speaking about their own military service, Commander Stephen Pantoja also mentioned the San Marcos Junior High ROTC color guard duties. Before moving on to the speech delivered by the San Marcos Mayor and Col. Greg Rassatt, and then to his own speech.

It was during his own speech that Commander Stephen Pantoja informed the crowd that some 22 Veterans took their life daily, with an act carried out every 65 minutes. It was then that he said this needed to stop, with more Veterans aided to get back to reality.

Classified as an organization that supports all Veterans, their dependents and the surrounding community, San Marcos VFW Post 3795, support Veterans of Foreign Wars and related charity causes. The organization, comprised of over 1 million ex-service men and women across the United States, advocates for each other and to Congress.

When asked about the service, on attendee said, This memorial was moving beyond words. Thank you to all those who made the decision to serve and sacrifice for our country.
