Airkooled Kustoms was named the winner of the Bug-A-Palza Nineteen Best Interior Air-Cooled category, beating out hundreds other competitors to take home top honors. The Scenic City Volks Folks Volkswagen club presented the award to Airkooled Kustoms during the charity car show at Camp Jordan in East Ridge, Tennessee on April 9, 2017. Details about the award can be found on the event website at https://www.bugapaluza.com/bp19/.

Potential award recipients were required to have stock style seat covers, door panels, and dash. Aftermarket stereo systems were allowed (as long as they did not distract from an otherwise stock appearance). The winner of the Bug-A-Palza Nineteen Best Interior Air-Cooled category was chosen by show attendees and a panel of judges.

Eric "Spook" LeClair, Founder of Airkooled Kustoms was pleased about the company's performance, saying: "Airkooled Kustoms' new interior department features Anne Brandt of Mountain Honey. She has been working hard to keep up with the pent-up demand for custom interiors for the past several months. The award-winning build, The Sandman for Mr. M, with its Italian leather and creative stitching, is an excellent example of what we can do. It is exciting to get to see all of her hard work pay off with this trophy. "

This restoration project is a 1965 Volkswagen Beetle. The car features a custom paint color the shop named Black Chrome, accented with Grumpy Rancher Green, colors created in-house. Boasting a retro California custom look, this Beetle also features a unique air-brushed deck lid inspired by the graphic novel, "The Sandman" by Neil Gaiman. The vehicle also features a 1776 cc Dual Port Engine, custom cloth interior, Wide 5 Disk Brakes, a Freeway Flyer Transmission, a 3 Narrowed Beam, Dual Master Cylinder, Retro Sound Audio, a vintage Speed Classic Shifter, and hidden automatic powered antenna among many other custom touches.
