Being recognized as the ?Roof of the World?, Tibet is the highest place to haven, with a typical altitude of 4,900m. Placed in a highland north of the grand Himalayas, it?s a mysterious yet striking destination that many foreigners look to explore. Since the starting of the twentieth century, the huge, serene terrain with its imperial scenery & mystique culture has established itself as an awesome among tourists all over the globe. If you are after a Tibet tour package, here are few places to add to your itinerary:

Barkhor Street:

Barkhor Street is a wonderful mixture of market, pilgrim route & ethnical melting pot. The twenty minute hexagonal route, running clockwise around Jokhnag Temple & other constructions, is often busy, particularly at dawn & dusk.

Barkhor Street, often called the "Window of Tibet" is famous for its shopping. Competing with these are open--air stalls laden with souvenirs and household goods; and there are roving vendors with bags of Tibetan music cassettes or other items.

Jokhang Temple:

Also, recognized as Tsuglhakhang, Jokhnag Temple is the most honorable spiritual construction in Tibet. Filled with the aroma of yak butter, the sound of mantras & the shuffle of wide-eyed pilgrims, Jokhang Temple is a matchless Tibetan experience in itself. In the year of 2000, it was engraved on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Ganden Monastery:

The creation of the Ganden Summons Ceremony and the establishment of the Ganden Monastery symbolized the formation of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Together with the Sera Monastery and Drepung Monastery which were set up later, they became known as the ?3 Large Monasteries of Lhasa?.

Mt Kailash:

Mt Kailash attained the reputation of sacred mountain well over 2,000 years back. It still bids great emotions from Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism, Jainism and Bon religion. Hindus claims the Mt Kailash to be the home of Lord Shiva. Tibetan Buddhism claims that this mountain depicts the Bde-mchol-rdo-rje and the Rdo-rje-phag-mo; and the Bon religion reveres it as a holy mountain at the middle of the planet and the abode of all gods.

Mount Kailash gained the status of Holy Mountain well over 2,000 years ago. It still commands great reverence from Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, Bon religion and Jainism. Hindus believe this mountain is the abode of the Mahabrahman; sutras of Jainism say that Lhexa Bahal, the world?s first one to be relieved of earthly affairs, lives on this peak; Tibetan Buddhism believes that this mountain symbolizes the Bde-mchol-rdo-rje and the Rdo-rje-phag-mo; and the Bon religion reveres it as a sacred holy mountain at the center of the world and the residence of all gods.
