New Delhi, January 2017: The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel, Delhi a landmark for both business and leisure travellers in the city is hosted the National Tourism Day organized by The Indigenous Federation of Tourism India (TIFTI).

National Tourism Day was celebrated for the first time in the history of Indian Tourism post-independence on 25th January 2017. The agenda of the event was one billion tourists; one billion opportunities. This day was established by the Indian government to raise awareness on the importance of tourism for the country's economy. Tourism plays a crucial role in contributing to the overall growth and sustainability of the destination and the local communities by creating direct and indirect jobs. Also, it brings together people of different cultures and regions to foster better mutual understanding. TIFTI is committed to institute a healthy operational framework for the tourism fraternity.

The event saw the presence of various respected dignitaries from the world of travel and tourism that participated in the event and presented their thoughts on various aspects of the tourism industry through a variety of sessions. The event also witnessed cultural performances from different regions of the Indian sub-continent and also paid a tribute to the upcoming republic day.
