Mumbai 22nd October: Mahalaxmi Race Course on Saturday dazzled with joyous fervour amidst music, dance, drama and Diwali festivities. Over 1,500 children from orphanages gathered at one of the city?s largest and most grand Diwali parties hosted by Madhu Mehta Foundation in association with Salaam Bombay Foundation.
Being held since the last 37 years, the party bought lots of joy to lesser privileged kids who otherwise are silent spectators. Children from 26 orphanages across the city gathered to celebrate the festival of lights the way they should; with games, gifts, food and entertainment. After grooving to some enjoyable music by the DJ, they were entertained thoroughly through various fun activities specially organised for them. To add to the festivities, students of the Salaam Bombay Academy of The Performing Arts performed special dance and drama acts. The evening ended with a scrumptious dinner and a goody bag full of presents.

Talking about the initiative Nitai Mehta of Madhu Mehta Foundation said, ?We are privileged in that we celebrate the festival the way it should be ? surrounded by family, good food, new clothes and festive cheer. But what about those children in our city who know no family and watch while the rest of us are having a good time? For the last 37 years we have shared this day with them and will continue to do so. There is no greater joy than seeing their smiling faces. They deserve all they happiness they can get.
