Hindus are looking forward to the first Hindu temple of Abu Dhabi, which is claimed to be open for devotees within a year.

To be reportedly built on about 20,000 square meters of government donated land in Al Wathba, about 27 kilometers from Abu Dhabi city, it is stated to be the largest in United Arab Emirates when completed. Besides a sanctum containing murtis of various deities, a garden and waterfront is also planned. Presently, Abu Dhabi Hindus travel to Dubai, over 150 kilometers away, for worship services, reports suggest.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, thanked Abu Dhabi for its support to the Hindu temple and urged all the countries of the world, which do not have a Hindu place of worship, to provide help in raising a Hindu temple.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, stated that in view of their considerable numbers all over the world; various national governments should step forward and respond to the requirements of its Hindu residents to help raise a temple for rituals, quiet reflection, festivals and spiritual exercise; which would help in their personal growth.

Rajan Zed noted that it would be a step in the positive direction signaling inclusivity and freedom of religion. It was important to meet the spiritual needs of Hindu residents. Moreover, governments should actively promote interfaith understanding.
