A bone marrow transplant process involves many stages. ?The whole procedure needs meticulous planning. Before the Transplant, the specialists will provide detailed information to the patient, answering important questions of the whole process and long-term implications, if any Says Dr Mohmmad Jawed,Unit Head, Paras Cancer Centre Patna

Bone marrow transplant is a complex but lifesaving procedure; hence it is important to take an informed consent before undergoing the transplant. ?A bone marrow transplant does not involve the physical insertion of the marrow stem cells into the recipient, but is more of an intricate and delicate blood transfusion method. Our new BMT unit will have state-of-the-art facilities for executing both autologous and allogeneic transplants,? Says Dr Mohmmad Jawed,Unit Head, Paras Cancer Centre Patna

The launch of the BMT unit at the hospital will be followed by ?Patna Myeloma Update 2016?, which will be held at Panache Hotel, Patna from 11 AM-4.30 PM on the same day. This CME will be accredited by the State Medical Council and attended by renowned hematologists and oncologists from Eastern Hematology Group. The main event will be accompanied by lunch and high tea.

The agenda of the discussion at the CME will revolve around updates in the management, diagnosis and supportive care for myeloma.
