Hindus have commended Japan?s capital and largest city Tokyo for electing its first female Governor.
Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, warmly congratulated Tokyo Governor-elect Yuriko Koike on election victory, thus creating history of becoming Tokyo?s first woman Governor.
Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, said that Koike?s election had raised new hope and was a significant step for gender equality. She should now deliver on changes she campaigned for and on the promises made, Zed noted.
Rajan Zed hoped that Koike would successfully address various pressing challenges faced by Tokyo, take on special interests, pursue clean politics, press for equal employment opportunities for women, regain the lost trust of Tokyoites, improve the image of Tokyo, stay out of financial trouble, and make lives of Tokyoites better and shining.
About 13.6 million people reside in metropolis Tokyo and its annual budget is said to larger than the country of Sweden.
