A hotel in Newquay is reporting a surge in bookings for its ?surf lodge style accommodation as the North Cornwall coast basks in glorious summer sunshine.

The Escape Surf Lodge in Newquay is enjoying one of its strongest seasons to date as fine weather inspires more people to flock to the UKs surf capital for their holidays and weekend breaks.

Gerry Saunders, owner and manager at The Escape, has seen a 20% increase in bookings on last summer, which he attributes to the prolonged spell of sizzling sunshine.

He commented: Whenever its sweltering like this, we tend to get eluded with enquiries from people who want to escape to the coast. Its natural for people to want to be beside the sea in weather like this.
