Melbourne, Australia - Oceans 2 Earth (O2E) organisation offers volunteering opportunities to rescue and care the wildlife and helping animals in need. Their Rehabilitation project ?Great Barrier Reef Turtle Rehabilitation? specialises in helping save turtles on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

Oceans 2 Earth Foundation offers lifetime experiences, to promote environmental conservation and education through volunteering participation, animal rehabilitation and care in Australia and abroad. At the Great Barrier Reef Turtle Rehabilitation project, volunteers at O2E undertake a five-day working week caring for marine turtles. It is important that participants show initiative and are ready to work in this unique environment while working towards saving these beautiful animals and this precious and ecologically sensitive region. At this project, staff and volunteers focus on rescuing marine turtle species in Far North Queensland. Their ?the Great Barrier Reef Turtle Rehabilitation? Project offers unique and limited volunteering opportunities heling to save endangered turtles.

The Rehabilitation Centre, founded in the year 2000, treats injured and sick marine turtles brought in from the Great Barrier Reef and Cape York Peninsula. Fortunately, with perseverance, they have succeeded in rehabilitating and treating more than 170 sick and injured animals over the past ten years. Although, UNESCO has put Australia firmly on notice to take stronger action to protect the Great Barrier Reef, there is still much work to be done on the ground to help the turtles who come in for treatment. Animals are often suffering from disease and injuries caused by boats, discarded fishing gear or ingested plastic. Turtles brought in for treatment from the Great Barrier Reef commonly suffer from 'floaters disease', a disease which causes air to be trapped between the shell and body, thus impacting the animal?s ability to dive and feed itself. Unable to dive, many turtles end up suffering horrific injuries and are in such a severe condition that they do not survive for long.

O2E is a well-known animal volunteering organisation that is actively working for conserving animal and marine life in Australia and abroad. O2E offers volunteering projects to help the animal life and contribution according to your capability. Also volunteers can assist in other activities as needed with other projects.
