Renowned Eye Doctor Attends MEACO to Give a Course on the Cornea Field

Harley Street, London (27 April 2016) ? Dr. Samer Hamada, a renowned eye doctor from London has attended the 13th Middle East Africa Council of Ophthalmology (MEACO) International Congress which was held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre from 4-8 May 2016.
The MEACO Congress is the largest ophthalmic meeting in the Middle East and Africa Regions. Here, eye care professionals, ophthalmologists and companies that thrive in the field from all over the world can have a memorable educational and memorable experience. The congress itself was under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Kingdom of Bahrain?s Prime Minister. Many world renowned institutions like the Ministry of Health, the University of Maryland School of Medicine, International Council of Ophthalmology and the Bahrain Ophthalmological Association were also in full support of the event.
Many professionals who excelled in their own fields were invited to talk during the congress to discuss a plethora of topics including cornea, glaucoma, cataract, vitreo-retina, anterior segment, refractive surgery, neurophthalmology, ocular pharmacology and more. Dr. Samer Hamada was one of the honoured speakers who discussed many topics like ocular surgery in the presence of limbal cell dysfunction, diagnosis and management of post-keratoplasty ecstasia, corneal cross linking protocols (CXL) and alternatives, CXL as a refractive surgery, CXL for keratoconus in children, the latest generation of endothelial keratoplasty which is called DMEK, as well as the latest form of stem cell transplantation which Dr Hamada call it Mouth to eye epithelial transplantation (MEET).
Dr. Hamada is a consultant ophthalmologist and eye surgeon with over 19 years of experience in ophthalmology. He also has special interest in cornea as well as cataract and laser and lens refractive surgeries in both adults and children. He received his master degree from the Ulster University and training in managing corneal diseases in children from the Great Ormond Street Hospital and has since performed more than 2000 cataract surgeries. Dr. Samer Hamada has received several accolades including distinguished achievement award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2013.
