Bharatiya Temple & Cultural Center (BTCC) of Greater Lafayette in West Lafayette (Indiana, USA) has completed traditional installation of statues of Hindu deities.
BTCC, which formally opened in 2012, now reportedly has statues of Shiv-Parivar, Vishnu-Parivar, Venkateswara-Parivar, Ram-Parivar, Radha-Krishna, Ganesh, Lakshmi, Saraswati and Kartikeya; in addition to Navagrahas.
Besides daily aarti, BTCC; whose mission includes ?To promote friendship and goodwill among people of all religions?; also conducts festivals, havans, yoga, meditation, discourses on Bhagavad-Gita, cultural programs, balvihar and bhangra classes, community lunches, charitable activities, etc.
Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, commended efforts of BTCC leaders and area community for realizing this Hindu temple complex.
Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this temple would help in this direction. Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of Self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.
Bhavin Shah, Surya Dwadasi and Padma Subramaniam are President, General Secretary and Treasurer respectively of BTCC; whose goal includes providing ?avenues for religious, humanitarian, cultural and educational resources to the community?.
Hinduism is the oldest and third largest religion of the world with about one billion adherents. There are about three million Hindus in USA.
