Faster Patents via “Tatkal” Window: A New Step to empower Patent Registration in India

A Patent is a right of protection to prevent our invention from being stolen or copied. Patent is the Exclusive Right or License to holder for processing, designing his new invention for a specific time period.

According to a report 237 Patent applications are pending and more than 2 Lakh applications are in examination stage in India.

In general it takes five to seven years to clear a patent application but via the Tatkal route in will take only 3-4 years to clear the patent application.

Another benefit for the Tatkal window is that the rate of filing a Patent application is reduced by up to 80% by it. In general the fee of Patent application is fixed to 8,000 for individuals and startups, while it?s been fixed 60,000 for companies.

The initial patent filing cost lies between Rs 1,600 and Rs 8,800.

Government allowed withdrawal of application without any extra fee and refund in some cases.
