ETSI Millimetre Wave Transmission Workshop
6th May 2016, Shangri-La, Eros Hotel, New Delhi

New Delhi 3rd May 2016: ETSI is organizing the 1st ever Millimeter Wave Transmission (MwT) Workshop as the key technology for future 5G networks. The conference will be held on the 6th May 2016 from 9:30 AM onwards at The Shangri-La, Eros Hotel, New Delhi.

Focused on building awareness about the importance of Millimeter wave Technologies for High Capacity MW Backhaul the workshop will have eminent speakers from TRAI & Department of Telecom speaking about the ETSI MwT Industry on the use of spectrum. Some of the key topics for discussion during the workshop will pertain to E-Band applications, TCO analysis and trial experiences on E-Band deployments in dense networks and Interference analysis for V/E-band systems. , E-Band applications and TCO analysis, the Millimeter-wave industry and E-Band as the best to match the requirements of 4G backhaul

Participants will also be appraised about the developments across the Globe in terms of deployment strategies as well as Regulatory policies. Key industry spokespersons will include Executives from TRAI, DoT, TEC, ETSI ISG MwT and major Indian Public and Private Telecom Operators.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) through its letter dated 26th November, 2012 had requested the Telecom Authority of India (TRAI) to give its recommendations on the Allocation and Pricing of Microwave Access (MWA) and Microwave Backbone (MWB) RF carriers. TRAI after carefully going through the back reference has noted that the main issue raised by DoT, in all the Microwave bands recommended by the Authority, is regarding allocation methodology of MWA and MWB carriers on administrative basis. TRAI had earlier recommended a light touch regulation for E-Band Spectrum which is under consideration of DOT.

The Digital India programmer, a flagship initiative of the Government, envisages proliferation of e-government services across all citizens, which will require Government enabled/PPP model Wi-Fi hotspots across the public places to provide seamless access to its citizens. High Capacity Backhaul being one of the critical elements in achieving this objective, E-Band Technology is expected to play to major role in this segment.
