Virtuoso guitarist and guitar teacher Tom Hess has released an online resource showcasing a new guitar practice process that is helping guitarists solve their unique playing problems.

Guitar players frequently struggle to make progress towards improving their skills; often hitting a wall and becoming stuck for weeks at a time. International guitar teacher Tom Hess recently revealed a practicing process that he claims will help guitarists solve any problem in their playing. He explains: ?In order to solve your playing issues, you can?t simply practice mindlessly and expect to see results. There is an easy-to-follow 5 part process, and once you follow it, you WILL begin making tons of progress each time you practice.?

Hess goes on to discuss some of the parts of this process in additional detail: ?First of all, you must make sure you have correctly isolated the problem you are facing with your practice. For example, don?t play an entire guitar lick over and over again if you only struggle with one or two notes within that lick. This is something I see many guitarists doing, and it just wastes tons of time. Instead, you must isolate the problem area, and focus intensely on correcting it (while paying close attention to any of the underlying issues that make it difficult for you to play). Once you?ve done this, the next thing to do is find ways to magnify the difficulty of the problem. This might sound counterintuitive at first, but when you do things like play the problem with only upstrokes, play it on the lower frets/strings, play it without distortion, etc., this will make the original problem feel much easier... making it easier to solve in less time.?

More information about this process for solving guitar playing problems can be found on Hess?s website along with various other instructional materials for guitarists.
