A new Arulmigu Balathandayuthabani Devasthanam in Batu Kawan (Penang, Malaysia), situated amidst lush greenery on a hill and adjoining a lotus pond, will be reportedly consecrated on February 19.

Besides main sanctuary; it also includes 11-meters tall statue of Lord Murugan, a 25-meters high Lord Murugan?s vel at the entrance, and various other Lord Murugan statues on a 1.6 acres plot costing 1.8 million Malaysian Ringgit, reports suggest.

The pond houses a gopuram and six statues displaying women who raised Lord Murugan are installed at its bank. Temple complex is home to many peacocks.

Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, commended efforts of temple leaders and area community for realizing this wonderful Hindu temple complex.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this new temple would help in this direction. Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of Self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.

Forty-eight days of traditional prayers will follow the consecration ceremony. Besides regular worship services, temple will also organize religious-cultural classes. Funding for the temple was provided by an area construction company, whose founder D. Muniandy dreamt of the temple few years back, according to reports.
