 Year in Search 2015 reflects India's tribute and farewell to former President APJ Abdul Kalam

NEW DELHI, INDIA | December , 2015: Google India today announced its 2015 Year in Search results, a look at the top trends and searches through the collective eyes of the world on the web.Googles Year in Search continues to offer a unique perspective on the years biggest interests, major events, and hot trends reflecting the aspirations, thoughts and imagination of Indians online.

Indias undying love for cricket showed no sign of cooling off with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and Indian Premier League ensuring that cricket fans were always close to their browsers for instant updates. On-field and off-field excitement is well reflected in Year in Search 2015 as ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 captures the top spot on the trending charts.

Rajan Anandan, VP and Managing Director, Google India & South Asia said, The 2015 Year in Search results is very much a reflection of Indias undying love for cricket and entertainment. The power of digital media continues to surge, especially searches on smartphones, a trend that is reflective of Indias growing digital emergence as the next billion Indians begin to embrace the power of the Internet.

The leading blockbuster Bahubali trended the most with splurge in searches thanks to movie buffs across the country. Salman Khan Starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem RatanDhan Payo also featured high on the list of trending searches.

Interestingly this years results presents an exciting mix of Bollywood (Bajrangi Bhaijaan, ABCD-2), Hollywood (Fast and Furious 7, Fifty shades of Grey), and Tollywood movies (I, Puli) highlighting the varied nature and interest of Indian audiences.

Year in Search result also gave an interesting view of the news events that caught the nations attention. The much debated Vyapam Scam remained being the top searched news event this year. As the nation paid tribute to Indias missile man, search interest around former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam surged high. Nepal earthquake, 7th Pay Commission, and Sheena Bora murder case convict Indrani Mukherjee also made it to the list.
