Videocon Telecom talks about its plan for Punjab, ‘we are here to stay’, says the telco.

The telco also talked about offering 3G services in the circle thru ICR with other operator(s), is said to be in advance discussion on the same

Videocon Telecom, the versatile, friendly and dynamic telecom brand of the $10 billion worth Videocon Group today talked about its plan for Punjab Telecom circle. The With over 3Mn subscribers, the telco currently has a Customer market share (CMS) of 9.2% in the circle, and growing. The Telco also holds the distinction of delivering one of the fastest EBITDA in Telecom in Punjab circle.

The telco which recently sold its spectrum in Gujarat and UPW circles for Rs 3310 Cr plans to invest a part of the proceeds in Punjab circle. By end of next financial year, the telco plans to invest Rs 150 Cr in the circle on Network expansion and up-gradation, building data capacity and Business Development.

The telco which currently has a coverage footprint with 3880 BTS in the circle, plans to deploy 650 more BTS from the pool of 2000 BTS of Gujarat and UPW circles, and expand its coverage across 270 new towns and villages.

Further, Videocon Telecom is in active discussion with other telco(s) to provide 3G data services in the circle thru ICR (Intra circle Roaming) and will soon be offering next generation 3G data services to stay competitive and capitalize on the fast growing data market.
