Report by Odisha Diary bureau, Bhubaneswar: With an objective to sensitize people about pollution and its prevention, National Pollution Control day has been observed at OP Jindal School,Barbil on December 02, 2015. Dr. SohanGiri, Regional Officer, Keonjhar Region, OSPCB presided over the function with their officials. ?Other members present were Dr. Sunder Singh, Vice President, Sarda Mines Pvt. Ltd., Dr. Rama Chandra Rout, General Manager (EMD& Sustainability) JSPL, Mr. G. Rama Kishore, Principal, Jindal School and the school faculty.?
In remembrance of victims of Bhopal tragedy that happened in the year 1984, a two minute silence was observed to pay tributes to the people who lost their lives on the tragic day. Earlierin association with JSPL, Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) also organized a drawing and quiz competition amongst students of OP Jindal School on 30th November.Er. R. K. Sahu, from OSPCB along with JSPL officials was present during the competition.
The Chief Guest of the programme Dr. SohanGiri distributed the Prizes to the winners of drawing and quiz competition. In his speech he stressed for controlling pollution in the society on a war footing on account of the hovering dangers to the lives due to the pollution.He sensitized the students on the need of their active involvement in controlling the pollution.Dr.Giri advised the students to be more careful and more vigilant in this growing mechanized world and make every best effort to prevent pollution in and around their habitation. He applauded the efforts and initiatives taken by JSPL, SMPL and the Jindal School in controlling pollution.
