Budget Hotel Accommodation Platform Room On Call Secures Funding

NCR based Room On Call, a marketplace of branded budget hotels, has raised about R2 Cr ($300 K) from the U.S. based Senior Executive Yahoo, Payal Syal.
The proceeds will be use towards hiring new talents and increasing theRoom On Call reach and its facilities. Previously, the company had also raised funds through internal accruals.
The company is also planning to raise another $10-15 Mn to scale up its operations.
Co-founded by Pradeep Sajjan, Amit Goel and Nirupma Dhawan, Room On Call is an online room reservation portal where it allows people to discover and book budgeted accommodations in India for Business travel ,Events or Marriage functions. Along with room reservation, it also offers a unique platform for hotels to promote their properties globally and enhance their sales.
In the initial phase, its services shall be predominant in Delhi NCR, Kolkata, Jammu, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Jaipur, Dharmshala, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Goa, Pondicherry, McLeod Ganj, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun and Manali. With a current inventory of over 4100 room nights everyday, it has already marked its presence in 24 cities and it aims to start its operations across 70 locations and 15000 room nights in India by year end.
The company is also in the phase of launching its mobile app with a range features, enabling customers to book their accommodations more conveniently.
Deals in space:
? Gurgaon based Oravel Stays Private Limited which operates OYO Rooms, a marketplace of branded budget hotels, had secured R635 Cr ($100 Mn) in a round led by Japan?s SoftBank Corp along with a few existing investors including Sequoia Capital, valuing the company at around R2,500 Cr ($400 Mn).
? Online budget hotel chain brand Zo Rooms has raised fresh funding worth $30 Mn (R192 Cr) from existing investors, Tiger Global Management and Orios Venture Partners. The funds will be used for expansion across the country.
? Real time hotel booking platform, RoomCentral, had raised about R12 Cr ($2 Mn) in an angel round from Karanpal Singh (MD, Nameh Hotels).
