Three More Republican Congress Members Support Zadroga Reauthorization

When the Zadroga Act was signed into law, it created the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program, which provides medical treatment and monitoring, and the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF), which provides compensation. On September 30, 2015, Congress allowed the WTC Health Program to expire. The program, which provides treatment to 33,000 individuals and monitors more than 70,000 more, is relying on cash reserves until next year when benefits end entirely. The Zadroga reauthorization bill seeks to extend the WTC Health Program and the VCF permanently. The NY Daily News reports that Goodlatte's legislation pushes for fewer benefits, offers reduced compensation to 9/11 victims, and only supports benefits for five years. John Feal, a 9/11 responder and advocate, called Goodlatte a negative expletive at a recent rally, according to The NY Daily News. Feal says others support his sentiments. ??I've had dozens and dozens of phone calls and emails saying 'you said what I was thinking,'" he told The NY Daily News. In fact, U.S. Representative Peter King, a bill sponsor, is also opposed to Goodlatte's bill. ??I strongly as I possibly can disagree [with his bill]," he said, according to The NY Daily News.

The firm comments that support for the Zadroga reauthorization bill is crucial. ??As time goes on, more and more responders are developing 9/11-related conditions and sick responders are getting worse," said Matthew J.
