A Jewish Primary School in London Borough of Redbridge in United Kingdom (UK) will be a Hindu Primary School on September one, 2012.

London based Hindu state education promoter charity ?I-Foundation? has won the competition to establish this primary school in the Barkingside area, according to Office of the Schools Adjudicator headquartered in Darlington (UK) and headed by Dr. Ian Craig.

According to reports, up to 25 percent of applicants of this third Hindu school in UK will be from practicing Hindu families. Its staff, Hindus and non-Hindus alike, are expected to undertake staff development on Hindu principles. It will focus on religious tenets and draw heavily on the scriptures as a basis of Hindu teaching and lifestyle. This Voluntary Aided school will provide a wholly vegetarian diet and I-Foundation proposed emphasis on healthy eating, yoga, meditation and the arts, as well as a strong multi-faith focus with a clear Hindu ethos and values system. Redbridge\'s population is about 10.1 % Hindu and it has currently 46 maintained primary schools, including two Jewish and seven Christian.

Applauding efforts by I-Foundation and community to realize this third Hindu school in UK, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed has urged the Hindu community worldwide to open more Hindu schools outside India.

In a statement in Nevada (USA) today, Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, said that such schools would help Hindu children to strengthen their spiritual and moral roots and enlighten interested non-Hindus about the concepts and philosophy of the oldest and third largest religion of the world.

Such schools would go a long way in nurturing Hindu virtues among our children and give them a spiritual identity. Moreover, these could help counter the misinformation about Hinduism prevalent in the West and promote Sanskrit, Rajan Zed added.

Established in 2003, I-Foundation launched the hugely popular UK\'s first Hindu state school, the Krishna-Avanti Primary School (KAPS), in Edgware (Middlesex) in 2008. It is currently working on plans for more primary and secondary schools across UK with similar focus and anticipates raising ?15 million. Its aim is to help children realize their spiritual, moral and academic potential in an environment centered on loving service to Lord Krishna.

I-Foundation is said to be applying for a new Hindu secondary school in the Harrow/Barnet area to open in September 2012. It plans to open Leicester KAPS in Evington (East Midlands), UK?s first cross-community Hindu school based on ?Hindu ethos? and set in five acres with a brand new vegetarian kitchen, in September this year. Nitesh Gor, a business strategist, is Chairman, while Dilip Patel, Pradip Gajjar, Prashun Popat, Ramesh Shah, Sanjay Gadhvi, Sanjiv Agarwal, Upendra Kalan, and Yuvraj Rana are Directors and Associates.

The already existing KAPS claims to be one of the most eco-friendly schools in the country, nurtures character and conduct consistent with Vaishnava virtues, provides opportunities to practice yoga and meditation, and is vegetarian. Naina Parmar is the Head Teacher.
