Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (PSPL) launched its Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman awards for grassroots activists and organisations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh here on Tuesday. The award will felicitate people who had shown exemplary courage and commitment in overcoming adversities to serve society.
The award, which promises Rs. 1 lakh cash prize and certificate, will be given to 10 Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and individuals. Award will be conferred in 10 categories including women empowerment, entrepreneurship (start-ups), education, agriculture, rural development, public service, social service, art and crafts, livelihood, vocational skills, health, innovation and technology and environment.
Four regional juries will meet during November 11 to 25 in Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi to shortlist two to three names in each category from their respective regions. The shortlisted entries will then be placed before an eminent national jury later and it will select the winners on November 28. The awards will be given away on January 14 at New Delhi.
?And individual or an NGO can self-nominate themselves. Third-party nominations are also encouraged,? said Prakash Tewari, executive vice president and head CSR and Education at a media briefing held in the city. JSPL foundation had introduced the award in 2014 to felicitate grassroots workers in Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Jharkhand. ?Now we are looking for talent from across the world,? Mr. Tewari said.
