Black Rock/Melbourne Australia; 24, October 2015: Born in Calcutta, Rhett May grew up immersed in the unique artistic environment that was 1960s India. Unique instruments such as the sitar and tabla provided the layered backdrop of Indian music, which was combined with the popular Western music that inhabited the land. These two unique genres formed what would become the major influences for May, who after attending boarding school in the Himalayan foothills, began his own music career at at the age of 15 with the Wooly Bullys and the iconic FlintStones who were invited by George Harrison to join Apple Records?.before migrating to Perth Australia.
According to May, the sexual and artistic revolution in Australia began to soar in the early 70s where his garage band ?Shakespeare Sarani? would morph into ?Prodigy? and then into the hard rock outfit ?Lucifer?. Performing at ten to thirteen locations per week. May lived the rock and roll lifestyle of the era in every sense of the term. From playing gigs and dingy nightclubs to mixing it up with the media, the history of his career is the perfect backdrop for the rock music scene in the country.
May remained immersed in the rock scene of Perth, which included supporting and opening for such bands as Queen and the Rolling Stones.
Today, May approaches music with a more structured approach. His new album "Fast Cars and Sitars" is the perfect introduction to the music of Rhett May. Ten carefully chosen songs highlight his ability as a musician as well as his diversity. Raw and honest in its content, each song has a special meaning, siting a piece of May's unique experience as an artist and member of the rock and roll revolution.
"Fast Cars and Sitars" will be available on iTunes, Amazon, and other online music vendors as well as his official website on October 30th. For more information on Rhett May, his journey through the annals of rock history, and news on his upcoming album, visit www.rhettmay.com
