London, 20 October, 2015: The Immigration Bill 2015-16 was laid before the Parliament in the third week of September and it contains a plethora of proposed changes to the current Bill. As per the new Immigration Bill 2015-16, the act seeks to expand the powers of the officials. The many proposed changes include increasing powers of detention and property seizure along with expansion of the remit of individuals who can be subjected to the introduced procedures. This is being aimed to include all those who are even under a smallest suspicion of being in the UK without having the required approval from concerned authorities.

However, there are even considerable worries that the Bill, if is passed in the Parliament will allow for the further exploitation of the migrant workers. This is due to the proposed measures which are most likely to take away many of their proposed rights of legal protection. The new Bill even proposes a new offence within the remit of illegal working and the set penalties include the right for concerned officials to enter and search properties and even seize them. Along with this, all those convicted of working without the required visa will face a 12 month prison term along with heavy unlimited fine. Though, all these for the illegal workers would be limited to the existing provisions of immigration rules.
