D Y Patil School of Management & D Y Patil School of MCA, in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University, had recently convened UTKARSH a two-day 6th National Conference on ?Branding India Through GST: Opportunities and Challenges? at D Y Patil Knowledge City, Charholi, Via Lohegaon, Pune.
It was inaugurated by Dr A K Sangal, Ex Group Director ISRO, Ahmadabad, Mr. Hemant Tantia, Joint Commissioner GST, Pune & Dr E B Khedkar, Vice Chancellor, Ajeenkya D Y Patil University, Pune. Other guests present during the inauguration were Dr D P Amalnerkar, Scientist, Brain Pool, Hung Yung University, South Korea, Shri TomioIsogai, Ex-MD, Sharp India Ltd, Dr K.S Anandram, Dr Satish Sharma, Group Director, Maharaja Group of Institute, Rajasthan
Dr. A K Sangal, Ex Group Director ISRO, Ahmedabad in his inaugural speech waxed eloquent on various aspects of technology, economy and future growth. He opined that one could learn a lot from students as they are bubbling with ideas. He elaborated that tough decisions made by the government have boosted the economy . He appealed the students to design mobile applications related to GST.
Mr. Hemant Tantia, Joint Commissioner CGST, Pune dwelled at length on technicality and execution of GST. He stated GST is a destination based tax and creating economic integration of the country. He also shared online filling is the fundamental rule of GST. He expressed the biggest challenges for GST is networking facilities in remote parts of India. For that GST council is taking utmost care and informed the audience that a company named GSTN had been formed to tackle this challenge. He also observed that sentiments of the people were also considered while deciding on tax structures

Dr E B Khedkar, Vice Chancellor, Ajeenkya D Y Patil University, Pune in his preamble speech mentioned about the great opportunities were emanating for students in the field of GST. He also pointed out the advances made by the new tax structure in comparison to the old tax structure. He applauded Narendra Modi for taking a historic decision of ' One Nation One Tax 'policy and expressed confidence that this would bring a revolution in the country.
