Prostate Seed Institute Offers Most Advanced Treatment Options

Founder of the renowned Prostate Seed Institute discusses the importance of selecting the right treatment.

Irving, TX – As prostate cancer treatments continue to improve and the options available expand, Texas’ Prostate Seed Institute has remained on the cutting-edge. Offering a diversity of treatment options is something its healthcareproviders strongly believe is crucial for assisting patients in realizing the most positive outcomes possible.

“Men who are diagnosed with prostate cancer are likely to learn this disease does not have a single best solution,” explains Dr. Gregory Echt, founder and lead surgeon at the Prostate Seed Institute. “The best possible treatment needs to be based on a man’s unique case, weighing such factors as tumor type, staging, aggressiveness and likely effectiveness. Quality of life issues are also a top concern.”

To ensure its patients have access to the best possible treatments for their unique cases, the Prostate Seed Institute’s physicians offer expertise in the following options, along with a host of others:

• Brachytherapy – Also known as prostate seed implantation or internal radiation, this treatment involves the implantation of tiny radioactive seeds directly into the tumor site. Advised for low- to moderate-risk cases, this treatment works by killing off cancer cells at their source while minimizing damage to nearby, healthy tissue.

• External beam radiation – This form of treatment includes intensity-modulated radiation (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT). External radiation is considered highly effective for treating some forms of prostate cancer.

• High dose radiation therapy – Also known as temporary brachytherapy, this internal treatment involves radioactive seeds that are meant to deliver a higher dose of cancer-killing radiation directly to a prostate cancer tumor. Unlike standard brachytherapy, this does involve a hospital stay, but its results in higher risk cases have proven it very effective.

• Combination therapy – In high-risk cases, the use of both external beam therapy and brachytherapy may be advised.

“By specializing in a variety of treatments, the Prostate Seed Institute is positioned to provide men with treatments tailored to meet their specific needs,” says Dr. Echt. “Since not every case is identical, having access to patient-specific treatments can be important for producing the best possible outcomes.”
