Adopting Vegan Lifestyle is the answer to Delhites’s growing diabetic and Hypertension Problem – Say Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM)

In a recent health seminar organised by Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) and, has announced findings of research diabetes and hypertension can be reversed through Vegan and oil free diet.

Dr. Zeeshan Ali from Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a Washington-based non-profit organisation, during this seminar, has shared that one in ten people in Delhi today is diabetic. That is a huge number and the percentage is growing every year. Diabetes puts our whole body at risk with incidences of Kidney failure, heart attack, amputation and blindness in patients. Omitting fat from our Diet is the single most important factor to avoid diabetes and even reverse it.

Dr Zeeshan Ali emphasised that the most the most effective way for people of Delhi to reverse the effect of diabetics and hypertension is to adopt Vegan lifestyle and oil free food. A vegan diet means consuming only plant-based food. Meat, milk, eggs and poultry is not only cruel but also contains more fat. While 23% of the calories in a skinless lean chicken come from fat, only 4% calories in beans are derived from fat. While meat and eggs do not give our body any fibre, a plant-based diet includes more fiber and, therefore, makes the body feel fuller very soon.

Experts say insulin resistance can be avoided by eating vegan food. As binding of insulin has reduced in our bodies due to the sedentary lifestyle, the number of diabetics has nearly doubled in last decade in India. Diseases such as diabetes and heart diseases account for 53% of all deaths in India. Going oil free and Vegan is the only alternative for people looking to avoid diabetes and living a healthy life.

Kanika Kohli, CEO & Founder of, India’s first complete vegan store, on this occasion shared the alternate ways of oil free cooking in Indian Kitchens. She shares that giving up animal products such as dairy, poultry, eggs and meat also has proven health benefits. Those who care for the environment and larger issues such as global warming are beginning to discover and get convinced that going the Vegan way is the only way to save the planet. Kohli is positive that in coming times, more and more Indians, especially the young generation will adopt Veganism for their own reasons. Vegan is the only logical new normal for the world to secure its future.
