Adruta Children Home (A unit of RAWA Academy) has been doing pioneering work in the field of rehabilitation of the deserted, unclaimed, parentless and destitute children since 1998.?
Dr. Aditya Kumar Mohanty, ?Founder Chairman of Adruta?Children Home?said the objective is not only to ensure healthy upkeep of the children but to provide proper education for their psychic nurture.?

Dr. Aditya Kumar Mohanty said that besides, a congenial environment is provided for the children so that the latent potentialities in them get unfolded and they grow into excellence in order to become the prized assets of society and join the mainstream. Presently, there are about 400 children in nine different centres across the State i.e. Bhubaneswar, Rayagada, Bolangir, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Baripada, Angul, Dhenkanal and Puri. Children Homes are located at District Headquarters so that they have access to the best of the available facilities in education and healthcare.?

The organisation follows the policy of centralized administration and decentralized economic management. Each centre is managed by an Assistant Superintendent helped by a team of cadres who make sincere effort to associate likeminded people and organisations in the locality. Activities of different centres are monitored by Superintendent and Secretary of the organisation. The centres are duly recognized by the W&CD Department, Govt. of Odisha and the functioning of the Children Homes are closely monitored by the Child Welfare Committees in respective Districts.?

The Children Home at Bhubaneswar was started in 1998 with the induction of Purnima in a rented building with the objective to rehabilitate the girl children who are parentless, unclaimed or abandoned by unwed mothers. Presently, there are two centres at Bhubaneswar one for boys and one for girls with 92 girls and 14 boys. The organisation was duly recognized by the W&CD Department, Odisha in the year 2009. It would not be out of place to mention that since the parentage and time of birth could not be ascertained and every child has a fundamental right to a birth certificate which is necessary for pursuing the education and career ahead.?

The organisation took the first initiative to move Child Welfare Committee, Judicial Magistrate and Health Officer in-charge of registration of birth in order to fix their date of birth notionally and procure the birth certificates. The second unit of Adruta Children Home started at Rayagada town, Rayagada to rehabilitate the children of Kasipur Districts who lost their parents in the epidemic. In course of time, other units at Bolangir, Angul, Puri, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Dhenkanal and Baripada were started under the same umbrella with uniform norms and guidelines. Besides Bhubaneswar, the Children Homes at Rayagada, Bolangir, Angul, Puri and Kenojhar have been duly recognized by the W&CD Department. The application for recognition in favour Sundergarh, Dhenkanal and Baripada have been forwarded by the appropriate authorities with due approval of DLPC for the needful by the Government.?
