Mahindra & Mahindra Signs MoU With Madhya Pradesh Government For Watershed Management

Mahindra & Mahindra, Ltd.(M&M), one of the worlds top tractor brands & the market leader in the Indian tractor industry, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Rajiv Gandhi Mission watershed programme, Madhya Pradesh for Watershed Management today. Present on the occasion were Mr. Anirban Ghosh, Vice President, Strategic Planning, Mahindra & Mahindra and Mr. Sunil Johnson, General Manager, Special Projects, Mahindra & Mahindra, along with senior officials from the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Watershed management implies the judicious use of all the resources, i.e. land, water, vegetation in an area for providing an answer to alleviate drought, prevent soil erosion, improve water availability and increase food, fodder, fuel and fiber on sustained basis.

Commenting on this, Mr. Anirban Ghosh, Vice President, Strategic Planning, Mahindra & Mahindra said, Watershed development is the need of the hour in India, considering the sharp decrease in availability of water for agricultural practices. Watershed management practices is an ideal solution to address this issue and Mahindra is delighted to be part of this initiative.

Adding to this, Mr. Ghosh,said, Apart from developing self sufficiency in water availability, this initiative is a huge step towards community development and will also help us achieve our vision of FarmTech Prosperity. Mahindra will depute a full-fledged team managing the watershed development programme at MP. Alongside, we shall also undertake many livelihood development programmes which will benefit farmers.
